On February 7, in the western section of the Pingshan East Tunnel of the Shenzhen-Shanwei High-Speed Railway Project, constructed by China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd under CREC, the ultra-large diameter slurry balance shield machine "CREC Pingshan East-4" was successfully launched. This marks a key milestone in the construction of the Shenzhen-Shanwei High-Speed Railway Project, a major project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The newly built main line of the Shenzhen-Shanwei High-Speed Railway Project stretches 125.52 kilometers, with a designed speed of 350 km/h. It originates from Xili Station in the Shenzhen hub and connects to Shenshan Station on the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway in Shanwei City, forming a crucial part of the coastal high-speed railway network. The "CREC Pingshan East-4" shield machine, launched this time, is responsible for excavating the 5,153.4-meter Lvzi shield section of the Pingshan East Tunnel. The shield machine has an excavation diameter of 14.34 meters, a total length of 122 meters, and weighs 3,848 tons. It features a total thrust of 20,000 tons, a variable-frequency electric drive for the cutterhead, and an installed power capacity of 10,000 kWh, making it one of the world's most advanced shield machines.
